Ward County Museum

Located at the Historic Million Barrel. Boasting a wide variety of historical artifacts, the Ward County Museum complex, is a must do for any history buff! Open Tuesday-Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Located off of I-20, Take Exit 83 At the museum complex, there is: Dunagan Square: This beautiful, peaceful garden features foliage, indigenous shrubbery and wild flowers and is a perfect area for a picnic. Monahans Original Jail: Originally built in 1920's Monahans Original Jail gives visitors a glimpse into the days of the Wild West! Holman House: Beautifully restored and refurbished, the Holman House is a perfect example of a late nineteen century residence with period furnishings throughout. The Rattlesnake Bomber Base Museum: The important collection is a wonderful venue for WWII enthusiasts. Come visit our newest exhibit and learn about the Pyote Army Airfield which trained B17 and B29 crews. Located at the Million Barrel, this 14.5 acre site is a historical potpourri and well worth a visit. Built in 1928, the tank was designed to hold over a million barrels of crude oil and today provides a perfect performance venue for the 400 seat Meadows Amphitheater. Other museum pieces to visit include the Coca Cola Collection, the Eclipse Windmill, Old School Building with antiques from Ward County, the Pyote Train Depot, the Rail Car and Caboose and the SWBT last "step" office in Texas.

Sandhills State Park
